He is a descendant of Xu Jinjiu and Xu Dayuan, famous Confucians of the Middle Qing Dynasty. He had studied traditional Chinese landscape painting since he was a primary school student. At the age of 17, his works were selected and included in the Collection of Paintings of Modern Celebrities. His facsimile of the Landscape Scroll of Li Cheng of Song Dynasty was sent to Japan for exhibition and highly praised.
Xu Beiting served as Associate Professor at Beijing School of Fine Arts, Honorary Chairman of Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association, Director of Beijing Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Society, Consultant of Calligraphy and Painting Society of Beijing University of Technology and Deputy Director of Beijing Qingyun Poetry, Painting and Calligraphy Fellowship Society.
